About IELTS
IELTS stands for The International English Language Testing System. The test measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work in environments where English is used as a language of communication.
The test has two modules:
- IELTS Academic is intended for test takers who want to study at tertiary level in an English-speaking country or seek professional registration
- IELTS General is intended for test takers who want to work, train, study at a secondary school or migrate to an English-speaking country

IELTS Scores
Each of the four sections on the IELTS is scored on a nine-band scale, with each band corresponding to a specified competence in English. The overall IELTS score is the average of the scores on all the four sections.
